Here’s Our EASY 6 Steps:
STEP 1
In STEP 1, your child will learn the sound of each letter of the alphabet. For most children, this moves pretty quickly. (Have no fear if you don’t know the sounds yourself. The program audio will guide you through.)
STEP 2
Once your child knows the sound of each letter, he will assemble those sounds to read words. STEP 2 gives him the basic understanding of how reading works. At this point, he will be able to read (literally) thousands of simple words.
STEP 3
Next, your child will move on to more advanced skills. She will learn the blended sounds of letters, such as ‘ch’ and ‘sh.’
STEP 4
Now that your child knows the blends, she will combine even more sounds to make even more words. You may have noticed that the first 4 steps are quite similar, and as you can imagine, your child will become very familiar with the format.
STEP 5
One of the more complex rules in phonics is what happens when a vowel is long rather than short. If you aren’t quite sure yourself, don’t worry! We use a proprietary method in the program that is easy for you and your child to follow along.
STEP 6
STEP 6 is when the fun really begins. Your child will read storybooks to you. Our program includes 10 delightful storybooks for your child to sound out, but it’s hard to tell who will enjoy this more—you or your child!
